1-4 weeks Intensive Greek Course in Tinos

I did a two week course with private lessons. Makis, my teacher, worked a lot on making me speak, which I really needed. He was very patient, encouraging, and we also laughed a lot. Coffee, water and snacks were served during the lesson. P
I also socialised with the other students during the breaks and on the different outings that took place twice a week after the classes, to interesting villages in the region and a dinner with a sampling of greek dishes.
The school was very well located near the sea and the town centre, with a beatiful view over the water.
I had privately arranged housing outside the town and had no problem parking nearby the school.
On the weekend I visited Pyrgos, which is known for its marble and Museum of Marble, and also Ormos Panormou, a fishing village nearby with only fish restaurants! Both reachable by bus.
I had a lovely time!

As an individual beginner-to-intermediate level Greek student (2 h/day), Despina, my teacher, made me speak about my daily life in Greek as much as she could. I learned so many useful ways to express myself by going through my everyday situations, and this made me become noticeably more fluent and confident in Greek in just one week.

In addition to that, we worked with a book that the language school provided, which contained various types of exercises, including listening to conversations with subsequent questions. The location of the school is very central in Tinos, with access to public transport and is easy to reach by car. The classes were perfectly organized, with 50 min slots interrupted by short breaks of 10 min (including coffee...) and the possibility to make contact with students from other classes. Social activities organized by the school provided not only cultural insights into Tinos (in Greek or English), but also the type of fun that makes up a well-weighted language vacation. Prepare yourself with a good vocabulary learning strategy, and you will profit even more.

If you want to improve your Greek capabilities in a summer vacation spot, I can only highly recommend Ellinisti.

I only took a one-week Greek course in Tinos as a taster, but the experience far exceeded my expectations. In just a few days, I noticed a real shift in my confidence and fluency. Makis, the teacher, created a relaxed and supportive environment that helped me consolidate the vocabulary I already knew and stop getting stuck on grammar. His approach made the language feel more accessible, and I left feeling genuinely motivated to continue learning. He and Maria really care about their students. The class was small, so the training was intense. They even took us on two trips to visit local villages. I will try to come again, this time for longer.

Our teacher was very easy to learn with. He took the time to explain when we were unsure and made sure the level and content was suitable for all of us. It was a nice, small group which gelled together well. The book had relevant content and was laid out in an easy to use way. We enjoyed playing a few games which made learning fun. The extra-curricular events were good fun - we had a lovely afternoon at a taverna in the hills with wonderful, traditional food.

The island (Tinos) was a good place to learn - not too overcrowded, and the people were happy to take their time talking to us in Greek.

I didn't a two week course. The first week as a single studenti I had two hours a day, but the quality of the lessons was very good and I learned a lot also by talking in greek with students from the other classes. The second week we were two students in class so we did more hours, but there were no other students to practise greek in out of school hours. On the whole I had a very good experience although I had imagined a few more group activities with other students during the afternoons, but I was unlucky as there weren't any others on the second week. But my main aim was to learn greek and I definitely improved and the teachers were all charming

This experience was very joyful. The school is very well located in the small town of Tinos. The teachers know their job well and make you want to learn. They organize some activities to introduce parts of the culture of Tinos, places in the city and to get to know the students among themselves, which allows for very pleasant moments

It is very easy to find accommodation in Tinos at very affordable prices. This island exudes calm. Buses make it easy to get to different places on the island to discover the beautiful villages and the different beaches

And a desire to come back is already gradually being felt!

Well, everything was perfect.
The teachers, the island itself and the food.
The island of Tinos is intense, beautiful and culturally interesting.

I got exactly what I wanted. We made revisions and a oral activities.
I was alone, so the course was adapted to my wishes.
The teacher was very nice and pedagogic.
The school was in the center and easily accessible.
The chosen book was very modern with clear grammar rules, exercises, good speaking, reading and listening activities.

It was a wonderfull week. I met lovely interesting people from amazing different horizons. I liked the classes, teachers, location, facilities, activities, and housing. Maria and Delpina were perfect!

It was amazing. Maria and Despina are amazing teacher and very kind. Every morning they offered cafe and sweet. Later we began our lesson where I could learn and resolve my doubts. Also Maria organised interested trip in Tinos, knowing better thei perfect.

School's location is perfect.

Classes - really fun. Lots of conversation which was invaluable. 4 hours was too long however - we were pretty tired after 3 hours. Text books were not really necessary as we mainly worked from photocopies.

Teacher - Maria was fantastic - worked with us all at our level. Really bright, encouraging and warm personality. Went way beyond the call of duty and arranged many extra activities for us.

Classroom was central and fine. Lots of water, coffee and too many cakes provided!!!
Activities were great - soap factory, winery, ramble around old village followed by mezes in local taverna,
Boat excursion to Delos Island, visiting art exhibition followed by dinner!

We found out own accommodation.

Liked everything

The classes were well organised, and suited myself and my co-student’s level perfectly. It was intense, not for the faint-hearted as I was flagging by the end of a week of 3 hours per day, plus homework. However very worthwhile, as I felt so much more comfortable in Greek at the end of it.
Maria the teacher was fantastic! So full of enthusiasm, and knew exactly how to bring the best out of me.
It was my first time in Tinos, and a great base. Lots of interesting history. Super-friendly people. Very good food. Felt very at home at Soula Rooms, just a five minute walk away from the school.
I loved our two ‘cultural trips’ with Maria and her husband, taking us to see the landscape and small villages, while continuing to chat in Greek. And of course including local food and drink - στο θεατρακι in Καλλονι was exceptionally good.
This was an intense week, but I highly recommend the course and the location. Am now on another island recovering

Very enjoyable. Maria is an excellent teacher and it was good to be in a class with someone at a similar level. Activities with Makis were also very pleasant.

In September I spent one week studying Greek at Ellinisti. the school recently moved into bright and quiet
classrooms well situated in the centre of Tinos town. The weekly program normally includes four hours of
lessons in the morning and proposes two evenings with cultural events. The lessons are diverse, lively and
well structured.

The head and the heart of the school is Maria, a dynamic young woman. She is not only a very good
teacher, but also a wonderful person, cordial, joyful, positive and conscientious and very much concerned
about her students. One week was certainly not enough to make great progress in speaking and
understanding, but I improved and have gained confidence.
The school forwarded me the entire auditory contents of our exercise book and I carry on studying at home.

Ellinisti is a serious small school with a personal touch which I warmly recommend.

My teacher was Maria, she is an open-minded very likable and emphatic person. As I was the only student in my course, so we could totally focus on my needs. In this way I learned a lot in one week of intensive course and made great progress, especially in speaking and listening (that is what I wanted to). Although focused on teaching me, she answered my daily questions, and we had a lot of fun.

The little school was located a bit outside the main town, but it will move to the center in the next days, so it will be easier to get there. Well, I felt perfectly there, in a nice surrounding.

We had two additional activities outside school, and Maria and her husband, who joined us and the other students, showed us some of the interesting points of the island Tinos, explained a lot and tried to answer every question.

Tinos itself is a really nice island, nice hiking possibilities, good restaurants, not too much tourism, my favorite one of the Cyclades (I have already been there for several times), so I was happy to find the Greek Language School over there.

I can recommend this little school without any restraints.

I came to Tinos to intensify my debuts in Greek language. I can say that after my stay, I am even more motivated then before. A 30 minute walk to get to the school every morning was the best way to start the day. Then I was welcomed every morning with good coffee and handmade cookies. The courses were intense but Maria is such a good teacher, that you get through any new word. Maria is patient, really patient and gives you civilization and cultural information as well.

Two extra trips in the heart of really beautiful landscapes on Tinos made my one-week courses a unique experience.

Maria and Makis, her husband, were always available.

I have attended an intensive course of Greek with Mrs Maria in the week of 14 till 18 September 2020 at the Ellinisti School of Tinos.
It has been a fantastic experience.

Maria is an excellent professor, a perfect pedagogue and an extremely patient person. I learned to speak Greek from day one and acquired an excellent base of the Greek language which gave me the desire to continue my learning process. Besides that, the welcoming of Maria was charming. She even made me discover Greek pastries during our breaks.

She also organizes cultural visits and walks accompanied by a Greek guide. I learned quite a lot about the Tinos culture during these activities.

I can only warmly recommend to attend this course.

Fantastisk teacher, very fine lokation, interesting activities and perfekt facilities.

I travel regularly to Tinos and always look forward each time to picking up classes with Ellinisti. After trying a number of Modern Greek classes both in Greece and the UK, this has been by far the most enjoyable and productive. The material Maria uses is interesting, fun, varied, and well designed. But more than that, Maria adds her lively personality and genuine warm interest in teaching. Maria's school facilities are very pleasant and easy to reach. She organizes some really enjoyable evening excursions and activities which give insight into the island and its way of life - walks, visits to a vineyard, taverna meals.
